Revital Vermiculture

Revital Vermiculture

Vermiculture is the process of utilising compost worms to convert selected organic matter and organic inputs into vermicast (worm castings), a humus based microbial and nutrient rich fertiliser and soil conditioner.

Revital Vermicast is produced in Taranaki by over one billion compost worms housed in windrows, 140 m long. These worms are fed blended organic feed stocks, which have been pre-composted prior to feeding to ensure consistency and quality of the end product.

Revital Fertilisers implements stringent quality control measures to guarantee the consistency and success of REVITAL® Vermicast. Revital vermicast is both Bio Gro          and Agri Quality certified and registered.

The vermicast remains in the bed for approximately four months. During this time the cast and organic matter is continually worked by the worms producing a concentrated humic rich fertiliser. The finished cast is harvested and processed ready for blending and sale.

The solid REVITAL® Vermicast is also converted into a liquid form known as REVITAL® 2000. Because REVITAL® Vermicast is a living, microbiological product there will be slight variants in the levels of nutrients in each different batch of vermicast. These levels are continually monitored and the preparation of the food prior to feeding to the worms ensures that fluctuations are kept minimal.

The process ensures the transfer of nutrients and micro-organisms to the liquid solution. Quality Control measures are also in place to monitor the levels of micro-organisms and ensure the longevity of these living organisms. Liquid vermicast not only promotes vigorous plant growth it has been shown to act as a natural plant antibody reducing incidences of many plant bacterial and fungal attacks.
